From Betty’s Estate to Doctoral Candidate: The Rise of Ishaq Bromet | ProSXMity Episode
How does a 23-year-old Sint Maartener go from renting jet skis on the Philipsburg waterfront… to becoming one of the Caribbean’s youngest emerging leaders in Disaster Management and Crisis Response?
In this inspiring episode of ProSXMity, we sit down with Ishaq Bromet: a young son of the soil whose remarkable journey shows what happens when purpose, preparation, and passion align.
Born and raised in Betty’s Estate, Ishaq’s path began at MAC BFM and MAC CSE, where he graduated high school in 2019. What followed is nothing short of extraordinary. At an age when most are still searching for direction, he stepped boldly into a field few in his generation have explored: emergency leadership, crisis response, and disaster preparedness.
Ishaq went on to earn advanced qualifications in Disaster Management at Florida International University, building a reputation as a sharp, disciplined, and forward-thinking mind in the sphere of Caribbean resilience and crisis planning. Today, he is a Doctoral Candidate at Regent University; demonstrating just how far vision and commitment can take a young Sint Maartener determined to serve his island.
But it is his mindset that truly sets him apart. Guided by the belief that “Pain is life’s greatest teacher,” Ishaq channels every lesson, every challenge, and every victory into a mission bigger than himself: protecting the people of Sint Maarten by promoting preparedness, resilience, cultural preservation, and informed leadership for the future.
Despite his impressive academic and professional accolades, Ishaq remains grounded, keeping a clear boundary between who he is personally and the roles he fulfills professionally. In that balance lies the quiet discipline that makes him both a standout voice of his generation and a blueprint for what our youth can achieve when passion meets preparation.
If you've ever questioned what the next generation of leaders looks like, or how young Caribbean professionals are reshaping the future, this episode will move you.
