Acp-SXM calls on Teatt, Vromi Ministersto make statement on Gebe fuel clause hike

The Association for Consumer Protection St Maarten (ACP-SXM) President Peggy-Ann Richardson on Friday called for the Ministers of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT) and Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI) to publicly explain NV GEBE's recent fuel clause increase. Speaking during a broadcast, Richardson questioned the necessity of the hike, citing an alleged decline in global crude oil prices. She also sought clarification on whether the adjustment complies with a ministerial decree that grants the Bureau Telecommunication and Post (BTP) regulatory authority over fuel clause adjustments. The consumer group emphasized the need for transparency regarding the utility provider's pricing decisions and adherence to regulatory oversight.
