Clear priorities needed to accelerate the introduction of the security and protection system on Sint Maarten

A recent review inspection by "The Council" on Sint Maarten has identified the ongoing absence of an integrated system for the security and protection of authority figures, other individuals, objects, and services. The Council underscored that security is indispensable for a functional judicial process, noting a growing need for safety due to increasing threats such as gun violence, organized crime, and threats against victims and witnesses. This review followed up on eight previous recommendations, some dating back to 2014, which highlighted similar concerns. The Council concluded that clear prioritization and an accelerated commitment are necessary to introduce this comprehensive security and protection system on Sint Maarten.
