Community invited to celebrate local sharks and rays during festival July 11

The Nature Foundation Sint Maarten will host "Shark and Ray Discovery Day" on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Simpson Bay Fish Market. This community event aims to raise awareness among residents and visitors about the importance of sharks and rays and highlight local efforts to protect these vital marine species within Sint Maarten's marine environment. Collaborating with local conservation organizations, researchers, and fishers, the day will feature free lagoon boat tours departing every 30 minutes. Space on these tours is limited, and advance registration is strongly encouraged for participants interested in gaining a unique perspective on the lagoon ecosystem.
