Concerning the Increase in Serious Traffic Accidents in the First Quarter of 2026

The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is seriously concerned about a significant increase in the severity of traffic accidents during the first quarter of 2026. While overall accident numbers remain consistent with previous years, there has been a sharp rise in serious injuries and fatalities. Notably, seven traffic fatalities occurred in this quarter alone, exceeding the total recorded for each of the past two full years.
