Cps Encourages Safe Food Handling Practices

The Collective Prevention Service (CPS), a department within Sint Maarten's Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA), observed World Food Safety Day 2026 on June 7. The annual global event focused on the theme "From Burden to Solutions – Safe Food Everywhere." This theme underscores the importance of utilizing data, research, and surveillance to understand the impact of foodborne diseases. The objective is to develop targeted, effective, and cost-efficient public health solutions. The observation in Great Bay highlighted that contaminated food causes illnesses ranging from mild gastrointestinal issues to severe health complications, hospitalization, and significant social and economic burdens.
