Cps: Stay cool and hydrated during Caribbean Heat Season

The Collective Prevention Service (CPS), a department within the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor, has issued an advisory urging residents to take precautionary measures. The warning comes during the ongoing Caribbean Heat Season, which spans from June to October, with August and September identified as peak months. The CPS notes that daytime temperatures near 90 degrees Fahrenheit increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. Prolonged exposure to extreme heat can lead to conditions such as heat exhaustion, heat stress, and heat stroke. These severe conditions may result in hospitalization or, in extreme cases, be fatal, underscoring the importance of public safety.
