Emancipation Day commemorated at Belvedere Plantation ceremony

A 163rd Emancipation Day ceremony was held Wednesday at the Belvedere Plantation, commemorating the day with a program of speeches, poetry, songs, and dance. The event, held under the theme “Buss Di Chain & Free your …”, concluded with a Ponum Dance finale. Performers included Funtopia dancers, Rudolph Davis, Naomi Warsop, and Kyro Vanterpool, accompanied by drummers Samy D’Alexis, Helier Coquillas, and Cobra Camara. The commemoration served to mark the significance of Emancipation Day through cultural performances and reflections.
