Fix the Incomplete

The General Audit Chamber has reiterated a concern regarding the ongoing absence of complete and up-to-date financial statements to accompany government's annual budget presentations. The Chamber asserted that without reliable financial statements, Parliament and the public lack a full understanding of the government's actual financial performance, making it difficult to assess collected funds, expenditures, outstanding debts, or unresolved matters. The Chamber stressed that timely and comprehensive statements are essential for Parliament to properly review the management of public funds and determine if policy objectives have been met. This repeated issue highlights a deficiency in transparency and accountability within public finances.
