Flag Day 2026: Message from the President of Parliament

Sint Maarten's President of Parliament, Hon. Sarah Wescot Williams, issued a message from Great Bay to mark National Flag Day, observed annually on June 13. Her statement highlighted the national flag's deep symbolism beyond its design. Williams explained that the flag’s various colors, including red, white, and blue, represent national values such as courage, strength, and unity, while other hues signify the nation's collective identity. She noted the flag prominently features cherished national symbols, including the courthouse, border monument, the Brown pelican (national bird), and the yellow sage (national flower). The message underscored the island nation's oneness and the long-standing coexistence of its people.
