Investigation team visits scene of St. Peters fatal Police-involved shooting incident

Representatives from the Prosecutor’s Office Curaçao and investigators involved in the Kestrel investigation visited the scene of a fatal police-involved shooting in St. Peters, Sint Maarten, on Monday, June 22, 2026. The incident occurred on February 13, 2026. The visit aimed to further understand the circumstances of the shooting and evaluate potential additional investigative measures, including a forensic reconstruction. The Prosecutor’s Office Curaçao assumed responsibility for the final handling of the investigation to ensure objectivity and independence. The National Detectives continue to conduct the investigation under their supervision, reviewing witness statements, forensic evidence, and available video footage.
