The Justice Ministry declined to answer questions about Dr. Danny Dennaoui Jr.’s pre-trial detention at Pointe Blanche prison, saying such matters fall under the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Court. The questions followed a prosecutor’s statement that prison capacity limits mean some convicted persons may wait years to serve sentences. Prosecutors said Dennaoui is being investigated for serious violent offenses, including hostage-taking and violent theft/robbery, and that detention is subject to judicial review. The alleged victim and another house worker gave conflicting accounts about whether threats, injection, or harm occurred during the alleged incident.
