Carnival Corner to Organize Road March and Band Clash Competitions for Carnival 2026

Following the success of the Band Clash competition during Carnival 2025, the St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has once again partnered with Carnival Corner to organize both the Road March and Band Clash competitions for St. Maarten Carnival 2026.
The Road March Competition is scheduled for April 18, 2026, and will take place on the same night as Band Clash. Carnival 2026 will mark a significant moment in Carnival history, as it will be the final year the Road March Competition is held on stage, signaling a major transition for the long-standing cultural event.
According to information shared during a recent meeting, ten participants have registered for the 2026 Road March Competition. However, not all will advance to the final stage. An elimination round will be held to reduce the field from ten entries to five finalists, who will move on to compete in April. The names of the five selected songs are expected to be announced in early March.
Carnival Corner also outlined several key submission requirements for this year’s competition. All songs must be submitted to both SCDF and Carnival Corner by 9:00 p.m. on February 27, 2026. Late submissions will result in automatic disqualification. Entries must be submitted in MP3 format, and all songs must be mixed and mastered prior to submission.
In addition, organizers emphasized that submissions must not contain obscene, derogatory, or vulgar language, as the winning entry will represent the official Road March of St. Maarten.
Carnival Corner stated that these measures are intended to uphold a professional and culturally respectful standard for the competition, while preserving the prestige of the Road March title as it prepares to transition into a new era.
St. Maarten Carnival 2026 marks the festival’s 55th anniversary, and organizers say the upcoming Road March and Band Clash competitions are expected to play a major role in celebrating the island’s musical heritage and Carnival legacy.
