Marie Gittens elected new SCDF President. SCDF elevates two young professionals

The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation elected longtime member and culture advocate Marie Gittens as its new president for a four-year term, making her only the third woman to lead Carnival in its 55-year history. Gittens brings over a decade of organizing experience and says her leadership will focus on teamwork, transparency, cultural preservation, youth involvement, and stronger partnerships. SCDF also added young professionals Thalisha Dollison and Shawn Peterson to its board, reflecting its commitment to future leadership. Veteran members Vida Boyrard, Michael Granger, and Roland Rommy will also return for another term.
