Marines prepare for hurricane season during international exercise

The Marine detachment from Sint Maarten participated in Caraïbes ‘26 last week, a large-scale, biennial humanitarian aid and disaster relief exercise organized by France in the Caribbean. The training scenario simulated a devastating hurricane striking the French side of the island. Sint Maarten Marines, collaborating with French and Colombian troops, practiced locating and evacuating simulated residents to a safe area, utilizing fast FRISC boats and a French helicopter for transport. This exercise aimed to enhance preparedness for the upcoming hurricane season, demonstrating effective international cooperation and successful execution of simulated disaster response operations among the participating forces.
