The 2026 Dutch Caribbean Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Alliance (DC ALFA) Conference opened in Sint Maarten at Simpson Bay Resort, bringing together representatives from the Dutch Caribbean for discussions on agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and food security. Minister of TEATT Grisha Heyliger-Marten stressed that these sectors are essential to economic stability, especially amid rising food costs, supply chain issues, and climate pressures. The conference includes workshops, policy dialogues, field visits, and presentations on innovation, youth involvement, trade, financing, and sustainability. Sint Maarten also highlighted initiatives such as school hydroponics, fisheries dialogue, and the Agriculture Business Academy.
