Odm: Remain Vigilant and Monitor Mds Weather Reports for Potential Storm Activity

In Great Bay, Sint Maarten, the Office of Disaster Management (ODM), led by Fire Chief and National Disaster Coordinator Clive Richardson, urged residents and the business community to remain vigilant. They are advised to monitor weather reports from the Meteorological Department of St. Maarten (MDS) in connection with the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. A June 10 forecast from Colorado State University anticipates a below-normal season with 11 named storms, five potentially becoming hurricanes, and two developing into major hurricanes. Despite this forecast, ODM stressed the importance of thorough preparation and specifically called on the community to ensure their disaster supply kits are updated and in place.
