The Office of Disaster Management is urging Sint Maarten residents and businesses in coastal and flood-prone areas to finalize hurricane emergency plans before the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins. ODM warns that vulnerable areas such as Beacon Hill, Simpson Bay Beach, Pelican, Philipsburg, Great Bay, Point Blanche, Oyster Pond, Dawn Beach, and Guana Bay face risks from storm surge, flooding, strong winds, and coastal erosion. Residents are advised to prepare emergency kits, secure valuables and documents, arrange safe shelter early, and avoid last-minute evacuation. ODM stresses that personal preparedness is vital to protecting lives and property.
