Jeanelle Hunt-Mardembrough Wins Carnival 55 Logo Competition

The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has announced local graphic designer Jeanelle Hunt-Mardembrough as the winner of the Carnival 55 Logo Competition, marking a major milestone ahead of St. Maarten Carnival 2026.
Her winning design, titled “Carnival in Motion,” was selected for its dynamic representation of the island’s biggest cultural celebration. The commemorative logo will be featured across all official Carnival 2026 branding, promotions, and materials as St. Maarten celebrates the 55th anniversary of Carnival.
Explaining the concept behind her design, Hunt-Mardembrough shared that the “55” was created using swirling forms inspired by Carnival energy, tropical waters, and festival ribbons in motion. The design symbolizes the movement of dancers, flowing costumes, powder being thrown during J’ouvert morning, and the infectious rhythms that drive Carnival celebrations. According to the designer, the logo reflects Carnival as a living, evolving expression that flows through the streets and into the souls of the people.
SCDF praised the winning entry for capturing the spirit, rhythm, and cultural essence of St. Maarten Carnival, noting that the design aligns strongly with the theme of motion, evolution, and community celebration.
With the Carnival 55 logo now officially selected, organizers say excitement continues to build as preparations move forward for Carnival 2026, promising a season that honors tradition while celebrating creativity, culture, and local talent.
