Retired teachers celebrated at the Voices Emancipation Day event

The VOICES Foundation hosted its 16th annual Cultural Ancestral Emancipation Day Celebration on Wednesday, July 1, at Emilio Wilson Park in Cul de Sac. The event, co-hosted by VOICES President Nkosazana Illis and President of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams, honored 35 retired educators, aged 70 and older, for their contributions to society. This year's special theme was “Education is Our Foundation,” acknowledging the teachers' role in shaping generations. The celebration featured a performance by the Cultural Glamour Dancers, emphasizing ancestral truth and community appreciation for educational figures. The annual program aims to acknowledge those who have influenced societal development.
