Rising land and ocean temperatures, wilder water cycle, glacier retreat hit Latin America and Caribbean

The World Meteorological Organization reported that Latin America and the Caribbean faced severe climate impacts in 2025, including record heat, droughts, extreme rainfall, and intense tropical cyclones. Glacier melt caused floods and water insecurity, with faster-than-average sea level rise threatening marine ecosystems. These conditions significantly burdened public health and agro-food systems across the region.
