Unesco Celebrates Young Artists at 2026 Wire Bending Exhibition and Certificate Ceremony

The Sint Maarten National Commission for UNESCO hosted the 2026 Wire Bending Exhibition and Certificate Ceremony from June 15–19, 2026. This week-long event, held at participating schools, recognized students' creativity and achievements within the UNESCO Wire Bending Program. The initiative aims to preserve and promote wire bending as a key element of St. Martin's intangible cultural heritage. It also seeks to encourage the development and appreciation of local craftsmanship among young people. Distinguished guests, including Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Melissa Gumbs, attended the ceremonies. The program underscores ongoing efforts to maintain traditional arts within the community.
