Scdf Introduces Carnival 2026 Pageant Coordinating Team Ahead of Historic 55th Anniversary

The journey toward the crowns of St. Maarten Carnival 2026 is officially underway, and the St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has announced the pageant coordinating team that will guide the Junior, Teen, Senior, and Caribbean pageants throughout this milestone season.

Leading the team is D’shnay Mathew-York, a distinguished seven-time crown winner and former Junior, Teen, and Senior Carnival Queen. Returning to pageantry in a leadership role, D’shnay brings extensive experience and a clear mission focused on shaping confident, disciplined, and empowered young women both on and off the stage.

She is supported by two of SCDF’s most dedicated volunteers, Shantal Etienne and Jennifer Perez, who will play key roles in guiding contestants through the demanding yet rewarding Carnival pageant journey.

Speaking at the official sash ceremony, D’shnay emphasized that Carnival 2026 represents more than competition. “This is not just a launch. This is a rebirth. A revival of culture, confidence, and community. This is Carnival 55 and the legacy lives on,” she shared.

She also highlighted the lasting impact of pageantry beyond pageant night, describing it as a platform for empowerment, personal growth, and self-discovery. According to D’shnay, pageantry teaches contestants how to communicate with purpose, carry themselves with confidence, manage pressure, build meaningful friendships, and represent something greater than themselves. She further recognized the essential role of chaperones and mentors, noting their importance in developing winners not only on stage, but in life.

As preparations continue, SCDF says it looks forward to an exciting Carnival season centered on culture, development, and sisterhood, as contestants prepare to shine during St. Maarten’s landmark 55th Carnival celebration.
