Vromi swears in eight bavpol officers to strengthen enforcement capacity

In Sint Maarten (Great Bay), the Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI) had eight BAVPOL officers sworn in today by the Minister of Justice. These officers, predominantly from the inspection department, completed BAVPOL certification training in March. This action aims to strengthen VROMI’s capacity to enforce regulations and issue fines, allowing for more immediate consequences for violations beyond initial warning letters. Minister Gumbs noted that this enforcement effort is intended to create order, strengthen public trust, protect individuals, and contribute to cleaner streets, protected infrastructure, and sustainable spatial development by ensuring legal compliance.
